"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch Vineyard comes all from clone two and is raised all in new French oak. Showing a fresh, focused style as well as classic Bordeaux notes of black currants, tobacco leaf, graphite, violets and earth, it has the classic structure and tannic grip of Red Mountain to go with nicely integrated acidity, solid mid-palate concentration and a big finish. Chris's wines always have the fruit and texture to be approachable on release, but they'll benefit from 3-5 years of cellaring and evolve for upwards of two decades.."

The 2013 Upchurch Vineyard Cabernet boasts dark fruits, classic cassis and a whole pantry of spices, including sweet basil, marjoram, cedar pencil snap and cigar wrapper tobacco. Add floral notes of violet and lavender as well. Flavors are long and savory and are beautifully framed with toasty oak notes. These flavors include cassis, assorted berries, black pepper and notes of ripe tapenade.

"About as sexy as Red Mountain gets, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch Vineyard offers almost overflowing notes of creme de cassis, graphite, licorice and building minerality to go with a full-bodied hedonistic, voluptuous and luxuriously textured style on the palate. Coming from a site on the southern end of the appellation and aged in new oak (there's a splash of Merlot in here as well), this beauty has tons of sweet fruit, ripe tannin and an already approachable, hard to resist style. I'm sure there's plenty of tannin hidden in here, but they're covered by layers of fruit and certainly don't detract. This fabulous 2013 can be enjoyed today, or cellared for 10-15 years."

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain AVA
Intense floral notes seem to be a signature of this wine. Here the aromas lead off with cherry blossom, lavender, currants, eucalypts and lilacs that are wrapped around its ripe berry characters. There are also earthy, cigar box nuances as well as black pepper and orange zest spices. The flavors are rich and generous; black currants, black berries, and blueberries, dark chocolate and vanilla coffee beans. This wine has great Red Mountain structure, good lift and an endless and savory finish.

"Another sensational Cabernet From Chris Upchurch, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Upchurch Vineyard has flat-out great aromatics of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite, crushed rock and toasted bread. This gives way to a full-bodied, elegant, seamless 2012 that has no hard edges, prefect balance and a blockbuster finish. While the Red Mountain tannin and structure are both present here, the polish, balance and purity are exceptional. It offers ample pleasure today, but will evolve for two decades."

2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain AVA
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that spent 22 months in 100% new French oak. Big, massive and hedonistically styled effort that excels on all accounts, it gives up decadent aromas and flavors of licorice-laced plums, creme de cassis, violets and assorted wild flowers. Full-bodied, voluptuously textured and showing superb mid-palate depth and a terrific finish, it’s certainly approachable now, but will be better in 2-3 years and have two decades or more of longevity.
